Katherine Knowlton

Technical Advisory Group Member, Canada

Katherine Knowlton is Managing Director of Accounting Standards at RSM Canada.

In this role, she provides technical accounting leadership on financial reporting matters, advises engagement teams and clients on complex accounting issues, and contributes to the development of technical guidance, training, and thought leadership initiatives across the firm.

She was also a member of the Technical Advisory Group on the IFR4NPO Project (International Financial Reporting for Non-Profit Organisations) during the development of the first edition of the International Non-Profit Accounting Standard (INPAS).

Katherine previously served as an Associate Director with the Canadian Accounting Standards Board (AcSB). During her time at the AcSB, Katherine worked on projects relating to both IFRS Accounting Standards and domestic accounting standards. Her domestic standards work included a focus on the not-for-profit sector, particularly the AcSB’s projects on Contributions, Financial Statement Concepts, and Capital Assets and Collections, as well as oversight of the AcSB’s Not-for-Profit Advisory Committee. Prior to joining the AcSB, Katherine worked in accounting advisory and assurance practices in both Canada and Australia.
